Ignorance Is Bliss!

Home sweet home! The trip home was miserable. Whatever bug I picked up in the great state of Minnesota stuck with me until yesterday. I am slowly getting my strength back. Everything bloomed and the grass grew in our absence.

Normally I can mow all of my patches of grass in a single morning. I still have a bit to go and then will have to do it all over again. The laundry from the trip has taken me three days! This is not normal for me, and I do not like it!

Insomnia has been my night partner for the past 3 nights. No matter how tired I am I can't seem to get to sleep. Not even a nap! last night I got up at 1am and took melatonin, drank some sleepy-time tea and ate 2 gingersnaps. It was 3, but Mr. BoJangles followed me and begged on his hind legs for a full 5 minutes. I had to reward him, didn't I? He likes anything that he sees go into my mouth. Back to bed and I still could not sleep for another 2 hours!

I harvested the turnips and cooked them with the greens yesterday. I planted them last year and after all the frosts they experienced, they were quite sweet and tender. My peas are up and sending tendrils to grab the fence and climb upwards. Won't be long until I will harvest sweet peas. The husband is not that fond of green peas, but I am. I could eat them every day, although I am not fond of the canned variety. I will eat the frozen ones, although fresh is always preferable. I have been known to eat them raw as I pick them and not have enough to cook.

Tomorrow I will be making more appointments for physical therapy for the frozen shoulder. I have been doing the exercises assigned to me, then putting ice packs on the shoulder. We often forget how ice can alleviate pain. My kidney "numbers" were off last time they stole my blood. This prompted my doctor to tell me to limit my intake of OTC pain killers.

Since the ortho doc told me that I have arthritis in my neck, it hurts a lot more than it did when I was ignorant of that fact!

  1. I'm glad to hear that your digestive system is settling down, but a bummer to hear about your sleeping issues.

  2. At least Bo got a past-midnight snack! I hope you can get your shoulder unfrozen by using the ice packs, and that your pea-pickin' won't give you tennis elbow.
