Traveling Is Tiring
Here we are, day 2 of the trip. My butt is numb from sitting, so I am happy that we have finally stopped for the evening. It is 7:50 central time, so almost 9:00 my time. I have been up since 6:00 am (7 my time).
I felt crappy all day yesterday and tried to sleep while we were moving along. That was hard to do since the driver stopped so many times yesterday. Every time my body relaxed and became used to the rhythm of the RV, I would drift into a semi-sleep and then I would feel the bump as we slowed to pull into a rest area ...... to check on the car we are towing, to let the dogs pee, or the driver needed the facilities.
The very first leg of the trip, before we left our state was a little too eventful for a crabby old lady such as myself. I was not watching the traffic, my perspective is skewed at best. I didn't even open the pleated shade next to me, because I intended to sleep.
So, I was totally unaware that the car in front of came to a sudden stop and did not have any warning to brace myself. I sit on the "bed" the dinette makes when you lower the table and spread the cushions out. I cover the cushions with a quilt and put lots of pillows down, along with a pee pad for Mr. BoJangles to be car sick on. I was finding an audio book to listen to when I was suddenly sliding forward.
Let me tell you it was not a pretty sight! My pants and underwear slid so far up my butt cheeks I could almost taste them! Sorry if you got a visual with that! The dogs were quite alarmed. Bo was panting and looking at me, no doubt wondering if someone driving was going to be in big trouble. Eddie was clinging to me for dear life and Toni was, well, she was oblivious. She was already against the back of the driver's seat to be close to the object of all her affections, so she barely moved.
This might make you wonder how I can trust him enough to sleep while he is driving. That should tell you how poorly I was feeling.
Tonight, we are at very bottom of the state of Iowa at a casino that has RV hook-ups. We went inside long enough to eat a meal and now I am in bed with my charming Eddie. Dora is on top of the stove in her travel habitat while Drew showers. Her usual spot is in the shower. I couldn't put her on the floor since Bo might decide she should get out and play with him. Eddie will not bother her since she took a bite of his nose! Last time I put her on the floor to walk around, he hid behind the recliner.
We will reach our destination tomorrow. I can't wait to see my son and all of his family. I hope to see my daughter next week before we leave. Traveling is tiring!
The older I get the more I agree with your last sentence.
ReplyDeleteI think it is age related!!
DeleteJust thinking about traveling is tiring.
ReplyDeleteThe thinking part is okay, it sounds wonderful. The actual doing is a different thing.
DeleteI am sorry that you are a numb-butt, and that you suffered a travel wedgie. But I'm happy that you have your other-than-human family with you, and that you will soon be reunited with your humans.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of having to do it all over again is always in the back of my mind.
