Reclining In Style, Still Without a Gate

I finally decided that my spasms in my back were not getting any better and had my driver take me to the clinic. Riding there was agony. I finally put my foot from my good side on the dashboard and braced myself for the bumps. The clinic that is close by had no openings and sent me to their sister facility in the next town.

Of course, the road construction along the way was rife with bumps and holes. We moved here in early 2022 and they have just finished road construction that was in progress when we arrived. That road was the first leg of the trip. The second leg of the trip is in Georgia, and they seem to be moving a bit faster. Time will tell.

The seat in the truck was in a reclining position and I took a pillow along. I could stand with minimal pain, and I could lay flat and manage to forget my predicament until I stood up. Sitting was impossible. So, they checked me in, and I stood waiting. Afraid to sit and then sob like a baby.

After determining that it was pure muscle pain and no spinal involvement, an injection of steroids was issued before we left. Three prescriptions, steroids, muscle relaxer, and wonder of wonders .... narcotic pain pills.

I was heady with anticipation for a good night's sleep. Before I lay me down to sleep, I swallowed pain pills and muscle relaxers. I got a little goofy and was so sure I would be knocked out. I was still awake at 2 am and shuffling around the house crying. My driver slept on.

It was the steroids that kept sleep at bay. Today I started my 3-day regimen of oral steroids. I took them very early this morning and am afraid insomnia will appreciate the boost. I am feeling a lot better. I was able to putter around a bit in my garden. Picked some green peas and even made banana bread. I did some pock painting and even mowed my tiny back yard after the man who does not push a mower got the mower to the back yard.

You may recall that my back yard at the kampground had no gate, and I had to maneuver around the junk in the shed to the back yard. This fence currently has no gate. Oh, he built the gate, just never installed it. To get the mower into the back yard requires pulling it up the steps and then across the deck that is 30' long and then back down some steps.

Usually, I mention something I would like to have, and he will rush out and buy the necessities for the project. I just take it to mean he doesn't want to do whatever it is and the raw materials will sit there until I have a small fit. I tell you this to segue to another story.

I have mentioned before that I travel in the back with the dogs on the "bed" the dinette folded down into. As comfort goes, it is lacking. So, I grabbed a tape measurer on our last excursion and measured the area occupied by the booth seating. I realized that we could fit a reclining loveseat in the area. I ordered one and it arrived two days ago. It is installed and he didn't break anything when he installed it.

I am one proud wife! It looks like it was meant to be. Matches and everything. Now I am ready for another trip where I will be comfy. We never ate at the table anyway. Too much trouble to rearrange things to regain a booth. We have trays that take up very little space that will store on either side of the loveseat. There is a console in the middle with cup holders and some storage. I will be riding like royalty. Bo will sit on the console and Eddie will be next to me and Toni will pine for her master from his side of the recliner.

Now maybe he will go nuts and install my gate!!

  1. Girl, I know you are anxious to get out there and do stuff but don't you think you probably overdid it a bit? Give the meds a chance to work!

  2. Good to know that you've got the pain under control. And that you will be riding comfortably when you go on a royal tour!
