The Sun Does Shine
I slept a full 7 hours last night! I felt great when I got up. It was overcast and I checked the weather on my phone. Wasn't supposed to rain until much later. Soos as the coffee had me fully awake, I slipped a measuring tape in my pocket and was ready to go up to my She Shed and build a raised bed by my tiny deck. I already have the shade loving plants at the ready and I was excited to rake up leaves for the bottom, then cover them with the bags of topsoil and plant.
I patiently waited for my husband to leave to run errands, because I did NOT want help. With luck I would be done by the time he returned. I knew where the rough pieces of wood were that I would be using. All I needed was the jig saw and the wood.
I went into the carport where the wood was. After all I had stacked it neatly just before it got too cold to work outside in November. I had stacked it by size and length so that after I measured my area, I could stack it in my wagon and drag it up the hill to my work site. My drill and hammer are already in my She Shed along with nails and screws.
I knew that things I clean up rarely remain the same, but there was all manner of stuff piled up ON TOP of my wood! So, before I even walked up the hill to measure, I tackled the mess in the car port.
I took two of the pallets I recently scored for free and set them up to restack all the wood. Since we managed to sell the car dolly in Minnesota, I claimed the area behind the RV where it used to reside. If I let it go, we would soon be parking in the driveway. It began to rain as I worked. Just a light rain that made the world smell new and clean.
I continued working and uncovered many things that he had said he was unable to find. Tools, a ladder, and 5 bags of cement that had hardened into bag sized boulders. He had them atop the ladder and covered with some plastic that had holes in it. I rolled the cement bags end over end and managed to free up a good bit of space. Stacked the pieces of my valuable wood scraps and filled one of those large trash bags that fast food places use in their big trash cans. The rain increased and I waited for a break to run and grab the rake to "sweep up". I was almost done when he returned.
Of course he wanted to know what I was doing. I replied that I was just out for a stroll. He can now pull the truck all the way inside the carport!! I was hot, sweaty and annoyed that the rain was now coming down so loud I could no longer listen to my book while I worked.
Tired of waiting for the rain to subside I went back inside, as I was already wet and could smell my own sweat. I peeled my wet clothes off and jumped in the shower. I was toweling myself when ..... just like that, THE RAIN STOPPED!
On the other hand, the rain was good for all the seed I planted. It cooled things down and I love the smell of rain. I am trying hard to look on the bright side as I sit here and see the sun shining outside!
We finally got some much needed rain last night after I had spent the day watering the flower beds in the backyard so doubly drenched. I can't blame messes on my husband since I'm the one who makes them and the barn is in dire need of cleaning out and reorganising.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so glad to have found you again! I know many are missing you and I hope they email you to find you. My mom has done a LOT of dental work, I feel your pain. Her teeth are very weak and break easily, she has done surgeries/grafts etc too.
