Happy Birthday
The party started at 6 and lasted long after we left to go to bed! My son's new family is Peruvian and there is a good-sized Latino community here. There was lots of food and music and laughter. Most everyone was speaking Spanish very rapidly, so that the little I know in Spanish was lost!
My granddaughter Mila and her daughter Alondra participate in Peruvian dancing. They both performed for us in the costumes they wear .... once again, I wish I could download pictures! Everyone had a great time.
A couple of my son's friends came, and it was good to see them. They both worked with us in our business here and it was good to catch up. All of our faces showed how many years it had been since we last saw them.
I remember my grandmother telling me that time went a lot faster as you got older. I was in my teens then and chalked it up to her advancing age. I mean, how could time be faster? Time is time, after all, and the time is the same for everyone. But I have learned that she was right.
We will be heading home tomorrow. I love seeing family, but they have work, and I have a garden to get home to.
You might recall that I was upset that the bevy of feral cats had gotten onto the back porch and into the dog food. Or so we thought ..... Turns out that we were wrong. Our ring camera alerted, and we all watched as a racoon scaled the door and made a hole in the screen to get on the porch!
I see a new door in my future and maybe windows to replace the screens that make up the back wall that faces the rushing creek at the bottom of the ravine. Looks like I might just get my wish about extending our living space after all!
And, maybe a new pet? Just kidding. Maybe.
Of course a racoon! Clever little creatures, so capable. Latinos know how to party.
ReplyDeleteThe party sounds like a great time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a festive party! I agree about the passage of time. Seems like summer used to last forever when I was a kid/teen. Now it flies by in the blink of an eye. Darn those raccoons! I guess they have somebody else to bother around here. We have more of a problem with squirrels, possums, and moles. At least the moles don't come up on the porch, and are a tasty snack for my little Jack, who loves to dig and catch the baby ones.
