Road Trip

I am going to try one more time. Thus far my laptop has shut down 4 times today. I am hoping my son will fix it. We are heading north tomorrow for my son's 50th birthday party.

Today has been a whirlwind of activity for me, but I will be coming home to a clean house, with clean sheets on the bed and an empty laundry basket. I also mowed this morning and loaded most of what we need to take into the RV.

I am looking forward to my new seat in the RV. We removed the booth and replaced it with recliners. Actually, a loveseat recliner. I sat in it awhile ago and should have a much better ride. That is, if my dogs don't fight over the other seat. Bo will be riding in the middle console, and Eddie can take the other chair with Toni. I hope.

Cleaning house this morning was a breeze. Had the washer and dryer going while I stripped the bed and then vacuumed the house and mopped. Cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. Put clean sheets on the bed and was done by 2:00. I mowed early while it was still in 60's and even cleaned the mower. It occurs to me that I accomplished all this because I sent the man of the house on errands. It is so much easier to get things done without his "help".

We (I) discovered evidence of a mouse in my house a few weeks ago. The man pondered different remedies, such as poison or traps. He "heard" that putting moth balls, peppermint oil or other things he imagined would help. I told him we had to find the point of entrance and seal it off, then trap the mice already in residence. NO POISON! What could he be thinking, we have dog babies!

So, he found what he thinks could be the doorway to my house that is mouse sized, and he sealed it up. I have since trapped the 3 blind mice that were stupid enough to invade my space, and I think we are mouse free.

Geez, I wish I could show you a picture. Or maybe I wish I could unsee his remedy. I was walking around the side of the house to a secondary vegetable plot when I saw it. There is a panel on the outside that can be opened to access the heating system that came with the home. It is irrelevant since we have a big unit in its place. Using spray foam, he sealed it to a fair-thee-well! Left the can sitting on the air unit, too. I sent a picture to my children, and they knew right away it was the work of their dad. I said not a word and it only took about 10 days for him to pick up the spray can and dispose of it.

I hope my computer will comply with whatever my son downloads and I will be back in business! If not, I will be getting a new computer! I do have a birthday coming up ....

  2. Coming home to a clean house is the best part of the return. When we first bought this house I could hear a rat in the wall and fortunately it was behind the panel in the closet behind the plumbing in the bathroom. I took the panel off and it had made a nest in there. Once I got rid of the rat (no poison but I won't say how because it was horrible) I stuffed the hole in the floor with steel wool and I forget what else I used to seal it off but no rats since.
