Cat-Dominium

I lost a day this week. I woke feeling tired, but that is nothing new. The man of the house said I should go back to bed, so I did. I slept until 4 in the afternoon and was back in bed by 7:30 and slept all night. I suppose I must have needed it.

Now I am still feeling foggy headed and tired. No other symptoms that would explain why. I don't want to drag myself to the doctor's office. It just sounds so vague. But maybe that is why I should. I would say I don't want to be a bother, but really, I don't want to look silly.

In other news, the feral cat population on the side of the mountain can now look forward to a cat-dominion with 6 bedrooms. You may recall me suggesting to the cat whisperer that he should build a structure to keep them warm in the winter. Did I suggest that he BUY one? No, I did not. It is like those plastic storage sheds you put in the yard to hold garden tools, it looks like a double decker barn for livestock. Three rooms on top with a deck! Three ground floor rooms for the cats that can't climb.

I am always looking for projects that will interest the man in the recliner. We have plenty of scrap wood and pallets laying around. I even drew up the plans for him and told him HOW to use the wood we have. He listened and even agreed. We talked about insulation and the need for "beds". I volunteered to make beds out of old clothes and such but said I would draw the line at installing heat and air.

It arrived via FedX yesterday and he spent the day putting it together. I left him on the deck with his project but ended up having to assist him. Never one to read instructions, he set them aside. It sort of snaps together pretty easily ....... unless you try to join two pieces not meant to be together ..... or use a hammer to facilitate putting it together.

What can I say, he makes me laugh. Thus far, the only cat to go inside was Garfield and that is because he was put inside. He went from room to room and sniffed it, then left. He is still the only cat who will let us touch him. Currently there are 5 cats who stay here. The others just show up for dinner. Garfield is the alpha and father of all the kittens. I have not seen Lucifer in some time. Maybe because he is male? The rest of the cats hanging out here are female. Mousy Tongue is still painfully skinny, which is good, meaning she is not pregnant. Marble is skinny, too. Prego, named after her current condition, is getting bigger. Her belly hangs lower every day.

While Lucy is still a kitten, I am not ignorant of the fact that she won't be forever. Garfield is her father, but that won't stop him from knocking her up. Incest is not something animals are concerned about. Now I need to figure out how to trap them all and haul them off to the vet ....

Now I need to gather all my strength together and ready the RV for the trip to Florida. Baby girl and her husband will be flying to Rome and going on a cruise. I have been selected informed that I will be taking care of her dogs. My grandson will be there when he is not working, but he leaves quite early in the morning and gets home late afternoon.

I learned earlier today that he is making a menu of all the foods I need to prepare for him while I am there. He is partial to my cooking, and I will make that boy anything he wants! His mom can make everything I make, but my cooking is special, and I don't mind that one bit.

  1. Enjoy your trip! It's a lot easier to go to Florida from where you are now than if you started from Missouri.

  2. I only had three cats born at my sister's house to trap and fix. My sister trapped momcat with a live trap but the kittens were still young. I had plenty of time to tame them one by one enough that I could pick them up long enough to put in a carrier. Two of them anyway. The third I had to trap in a live trap after I got the other two and the mom in the shed. It took almost a year for him to trust me enough to let me pet him and I can pick him up only long enough to shift him to a different food dish (they ll start out eating out of the same one). Now we have a feral male who comes to eat who so far won't let us get close enough to touch him.
