Things That Annoy Me
This could end up being a very long post! So many things are annoying to me. I imagine others have the same gripes and I am not alone with my irritation.
Sandy floors. I absolutely hate walking barefoot and have the feel of sand on the bottom of my feet. I could just wear shoes, is that what you are thinking? I could, but I like my feet bare unless it is cold. I purchased one of those dirty paw rugs advertised everywhere. It was buy one, get one free. I gifted the second one to my daughter. I love it, it does hold a lot of dirt from paws and shoes coming in from outside. It doesn't get it all, though. I vacuum endlessly and have even vacuumed the soles of my feet.
Another pet peeve is salads in restaurants lately. I ordered a salad just the other day and was sorely disappointed in the tiny amount of lettuce. You would expect lettuce to be the main ingredient, right? I know that the price of lettuce has gone up but so has everything else. I ordered the strawberry/pecan salad at Longhorn. A signature dish that I like but haven't ordered in some time. Since the first listed ingredient is strawberries and pecans, one expects to see an abundance of those two items. The bed of lettuce underneath was spare! Only 4 halves of the strawberries and a scant handful of nuts. Thank goodness the dressing was on the side because there was enough for three salads, and I am not a big fan of drowning my salads. I like to taste the different components of my salad. The amount of feta cheese was overwhelming. I picked most of it out and still had enough for eating. There was at least 3/4 of a cup left in my bowl. It is meant to enhance the flavors, not overwhelm them! And what's the deal with the lettuce ... or lack thereof?
Wrong numbers. Correction, texts from people who obviously have the wrong number. I got a text from a person asking how my day was going. I didn't recognize the number and simply ignored it. My phone number would indicate the state of Minnesota and the person's number was also a Minnesota number. This happens. Face it, just one digit off and you do not reach the party you are expecting. Usually, it only happens once, and the correct number is called. It happened three more times that day, so I responded, telling the person that they had the wrong number. No big deal. I promptly forgot about it and went on about my business.
The person responded, apologized profusely, making a very big deal of it. I just responded, "no problem". Several days later the same person texted that they had just exited the shower and wondered what I was doing. Strange enough to share that info. But wait there is more! I texted back "wrong number" and this freshly showered person wondering what I was doing texted back! "Have you forgotten that I apologized to you???" Of course, I ignored it, but it stuck in mind. Now I wonder if they are just dialing random numbers to have someone to text?
Most of lives irritations are all the worse if your mate is involved. It magnifies the irritation and makes one wonder who this person is and where is the one you married. I will not list all his faults, since it would make this post too long. I, of course, Have no such faults!
I get texts and calls for Lauren. I've tried telling whoever that I'm not Lauren, still they persist though it's been a while. I use the report junk and delete function or just block an annoying number.
ReplyDeleteMe too, barefoot, but stuff on the floor doesn't bother me.
She is blocked. Or was it a "he"? The fact that they mentioned the apology let me know that they knew they texted the wrong number! I guess I should be happy it was not filled with profanity. I have been known to ask some of that generation if they talked to their mother like that. They probably do. My middle granddaughter from my son, the adopted ones that knew no boundaries called her other gramma the "C" word once. Pure reflex resulted in a slap to the child's face. She complained to me about the slap, and I turned and congratulated other gramma. Told the child that I probably would have done the same and then treated her mouth to a good washing with soap.
DeleteThat texter sounds like one of The Pony's generation. Well. Except for the initial over-done apology, since they think they do no wrong, and don't take responsibility. But the rest fits.
ReplyDeleteMy restaurant salad peeve is when they toss a lettuce core in the bottom, covered by a few too-large leaves. Nobody eats that core! It's just taking up space so you don't get edible salad. Of course there is less room for toppings, also. I usually get this in a take-out or deli salad, not in an actual restaurant.
I have had the salad before, so expected the same quality. Don't worry, I complained. When they responded that ingredients were costly, I told them that maybe they could afford more lettuce if they didn't dump and entire 8 ounce container of feta cheese!
