New Eatery in Town

Grocery shopping today was insane. I should know better than to shop on Saturday, but I wanted to get all my shopping done so I can get the RV loaded tomorrow. It was supposed to rain all day today. Here it is approaching dusk and nary a drop has fallen. 74 degrees in town, a bit cooler here on the mountainside. I could have played outside in the dirt today!

It will probably rain all day tomorrow while I am hauling clothes and necessities to the RV. Just my luck. I have duplicates of most everyday needs already in the RV. Toothbrushes, toiletries and such. But it is time to trade out the clothes for another season.

We tried a new restaurant last night in the town square. The Happy Dragon. I was excited to find something close by. With the time change, we end up driving home in the dark. I have noticed lately that driving in the dark is not something either of us should be doing! I have always had night blindness, but lately my chauffeur has been scaring me when driving in the dark. Time for a visit to an eye doctor.

Back to the restaurant. The town square is quaint, with a park right in the center. There were families hanging out and children were playing and calling out. Thought I had been transported in time! I looked around to see if Andy, Opie and Barney might appear. The old building housing The Happy Dragon had been remodeled. It was dark and moody with Motown songs in the background. The place was tastefully decorated and even at 4:30 it was busy. We were seated right away and the staff was very attentive.

The menu was very limited, that was disappointing. I ordered the edamame, followed with sesame chicken. Most of the entrees were spicy hot and I don't care for it. Drew ordered eggrolls and beef and broccoli.  The edamame was not salted enough. Keeping in mind that we use very little salt here at home, that is like saying they forgot the salt! The eggrolls were really good. No duck sauce, just the hot spicy chili sauce that I don't care for. My sesame chicken was pretty good, though not spectacular. Drew complained that the beef was tough and the broccoli undercooked.

So, we left disappointed, but full. People watching was fun, though. We will be leaving Tuesday morning, heading to Homosassa to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter. I am trying to pace myself in the preparations.

  1. In my opinion, bad Chinese food is still better than no Chinese food! Maybe they will get better after a while, hearing customer complaints. Be safe in your Thanksgiving travels.
