Postponed Again
No caffeine this morning in preparation for my stress test. Hard to get going, but I cooked breakfast (something I seldom do) and got the day started.
While my husband went to the dump, I was just sitting here, bemoaning the loss of my morning cup of coffee when my phone rang. The apparatus for the test was still in the hands of the repair people. I have been rescheduled again. December 9th. Should be fixed or replaced by then and it will be back-to-back with the echo cardiogram. One visit will accomplish both.
I was okay with that and was already making my coffee before I was off the phone. The dogs were not as happy about it. I had their lick pads at the ready to be smeared with peanut butter before leaving them on their own. They are smart. They watch me all day long and knew what the lick pads were for.
Every day we bring the kittens, Marco and Polo inside for a visit. Drew and I pass them back and forth from one recliner to the other. Eddie is okay, but not enthusiastic about this. He is tolerant and if the kitten I am holding decides to nap, Eddie will lay his big, sweet head next to the sleeping cat and nap with it.
Polo has finally realized he doesn't really have a choice about being tamed. I am, after all is said and done, the alpha in my animal kingdom. Marco is going to be a really handsome cat. Polo's fur is just one color and not as interesting. We think the solid white fluffy male at the neighbor's house fathered the kittens. Gray Lady follows my every step in the yard and will let me hold her from time to time.
A new cat has shown up. Solid white with huge green eyes. The cat would be gorgeous if not for the scars. The flank of this cat look like someone poured acid on her. I tried to catch her to inspect the wounds. She will come to me, seeing that the other cats do, but just so far. I did get close enough to see one side and there are puncture wounds. The skin has healed over, but the fur is totally gone. The puncture wounds look like big dog bites.
Well, I know two pit bulls have a taste for cat flesh in this area. I told Drew to get his shot gun ready. They killed my Martha and if they come on my property, I intend for them to never take another step again. I worry about my cats being defenseless against them. I do think they would be foolish to attack one of the cats, I they would all jump on them. They probably stalk one to separate it form the others.
Bo is enchanted with Marco and Polo. He longs to play with them, and I would let him if I were not afraid they would accidentally scratch his eyes. Toni is still oblivious to their presence.
Kittens are so much fun. My two year old boys that live across the street are real sweeties. though Lovey is over here a lot. When I opened the garage this morning he came out of the barn and not for the first time. Cat though is displeased. This is her domain.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion one visit to the doctor's office to accomplish two goals is preferable to two trips
ReplyDeleteAt least you got your coffee. And the 2 for 1 appointment is not all that far in the future. I know you've had a problem with those dogs, but do you have coyotes around there? They will attack cats. I don't know how ferocious they are, but I tend to think the dogs would have finished off that cat.
