Not My Day

The good news is .... I made it to my appointment on time. The bad news is ...... I need a hand surgeon.

Used to be a hand surgeon in Hiawassee, but he retired last year. Just my luck. Closest hand surgeon is in Gainesville. I have no desire to travel just to get rid of this cyst. There is a plastic surgeon in Blairsville that will cut it out. I called and my referral has been sent.

So, the good news is that I won't have to go to Gainesville. But the bad news is that they have no openings until February.

We stopped in at a cafe for a late breakfast for my chauffeur. He thinks every trip anywhere involves food. We sat in a booth, and he got his biscuits and gravy fix. I had an extra cup of coffee and possibly the blandest pancakes ever. When I was exiting out of the booth, my right knee twisted and gave out. I did not fall to the floor, as I was hanging onto the back of the booth.

Not my day, this day. I am seriously considering going to bed and starting over. I need to change the sheets on my bed. The bending over is tricky at the best of times. Putting the fitted sheet on to my liking is not easy with my hand in pain. Everything in here smells like essence of dog. I need to mop. I would employ the man of the house, but I have seen him mop and have decided to just let it be.

He does it backwards. He wants to mop, then vacuum and sweep. Adding the fact that he doesn't move anything and like I said, might as well leave it alone. There are worse things to smell than dog.

The dogs need a good scrubbing, and I know I can't do that. Once again, I have seen the man try to bathe the animals. He puts the dog shampoo on their backs and doesn't really scrub them to get the dirt from their skin. He rinses quickly, leaving shampoo on their skin and thinks he is done. The dogs are unhappy, I am unhappy and things get tense as I carefully phrase my criticism of his attempts.

Yeah, we won't be bathing the dogs today, either. My knee is demonstrating a protest if I try to stand up. Might turn into a riot if I try to put clean sheets on the bad. Here I sit. Magnesium cream applied to all my aches, knee propped up on a pillow while I am reclining and feeling useless.

  1. OH you poor woman. When one of my joints rebels the others shut up, but the pain moves. I never know what will be screaiming upon waking up. I feel sorry for you. I can't stand wrinkles in my bedsheet, and the man would never change sheets.Hope you get some relief soon.
