Bummed Out

 Just when you think things have settled and you can plan the immediate future and you are smugly patting yourself on the back for having it all together, reality reaches out and slaps you in the face.

I was eating and when I swallowed my tongue brushed against the big screw that was holding the tooth implant. Wait, I thought, this does not feel right. The implanted tooth is gone! I must have swallowed it with the food. I rushed to the mirror and saw the ugly screw and no tooth. I am beyond upset.

Implants are expensive and you get them thinking you will never have to think about them again. You brush your teeth and floss and are happy that at least one tooth will never decay. Now I am worried that I have an opening into my jaw and your mouth has more bacteria that your intestines. I know I will have to call the dentist tomorrow and get in as soon as possible. I have a cardiac appointment Thursday, and we planned to pull out Friday and head south. I bet that won't happen now.

The Man is calm and the voice of reason, which just makes me want to smack him. How dare he act calm while I am in distress?? It doesn't hurt, but I will worry all night just because that is what I do.

I want to cry, but that will just make me all stuffy. I am just bummed out! I need to go count my blessings and then take something to make me sleep.

    Sounds like a bad job by the dentist and he should replace it no charge.

    Oh my heart goes out to you. My mom has bad luck with her teeth and has had a lot of surgeries, she feels so self conscious when a front one falls out - I can only imagine how you're feeling with something that should not break like that tooth. I agree with ellen!

      Fortunately, it is not a front tooth. My son has one and it is the upper front tooth. He was very self-conscious until he got the implant. Now he is horrified t think his could fall out. Had I anticipated this happening I would not have gone through the process of the surgery and then all the prep work waiting for it, then thinking I would never have to worry about that tooth again.

      The weather has us held captive. Literally, we cannot ascend the driveway due the layer of ice. Our truck might make it up, but not with me in it!!

Gardens and Cats

  My gout has gone, but the memory stays! Now my neck is bothering me with arthritis. I am sure digging has nothing to do with it. I seem to be in a race to finish my upper garden. Only two bags of mulch remain.  I spread one today and planted two Crepe Myrtle bushes and another cone flower. This one is orange. I already have white and purple. It is safe to say that there is no particular color scheme. Just lots of color. Yesterday I bought 6 shepherd's hooks that I saw on Marketplace. One is already in place on my little deck with a hummingbird feeder that is visible from the window next to my sewing machine. It is on the high end and hopefully out of reach from the cat population. The cat population continues to grow. A new cat showed up last week. A fluffy grayish one. I am pretty sure it is female. She is not as skinny as Mousy Tongue and I fear she will be adding some babies soon. Hard to tell with all that fur, but her belly is certainly bigger than the other two females...

Mulch, Teeth and Steppingstones

  Today is the big day! I will be glued to the dentist chair for an hour while they make a mold of my mouth and then, ultimately my new tooth. I am excited. I won't have the tooth installed today, but I am one step closer to eating popcorn! Why is it that you always want what you can't have. I don't even like popcorn that much, but since I don't have the ability to chomp it up, I want it like nothing I have ever wanted before! This upper garden is trying to kill me! Just when I think I can almost see completion, something happens to put me two steps behind the one step I took. I am praying that I will be able to eke out my last bag of mulch to cover the carboard.  I have since changed my mind several times about what will surround the steppingstones. First, I was going to use gravel with no steppingstones but walked on some of the gravel I have on hand and didn't like the way it felt to my feet.
