I Walk The Line

I am happy to report that the knee is better. It was a long night trying to shield my knee from my bedtime companions. Kevin has decided to sleep with his favorite canine. When Bo tires of his little buddy he heads to the foot of the bed and waits for me to lift the covers with my foot so he can hide out.
The canines want to get up early and be escorted through the porch and have the outside door opened. I have a system. I get up and throw my big fleece robe on and slip my feet into the slippers with depictions of doxies on the toes. This is after I assist fat Eddie to the floor. He will only walk across the sheet, no covers, and you have to hold his back end until his front paws touch the floor. He is very stubborn and will protest loudly if his routine is not obeyed. I walk out on the porch with the dogfood scoop in tow, then I release the hounds and while they attend to personal matters, I open the big container and scoop out their food. On the way back to the warm interior, I grab a package of moist and meaty for Toni Louise.
Upon entering the sanctuary of warm air, I dump the dry food into bowls for Bo and Eddie, and then get Toni's food ready, a mixture of canned food and her moist and meaty. All the while she is dancing spastically around my feet. I head to the bathroom and put her dish in and close the door so that she can eat in peace. I grab the big plastic container of Kevins food and pour his bowl. Then I take a small handful of the moist and meaty and put a sparse sprinkling of it on their food. They wait for this, feeling deprived that Toni gets this and they don't.
This morning, I tried to stand up and could not get on my feet. Toni was barking and the others joined in. This disturbed The Man and he grunted at the dogs. I jostled his leg and asked him to take out the dogs.
This was a disaster. He failed to put a diaper on Toni last night and she had peed willy nilly all over the house. Then he just opened the door to the porch but did not open the porch door to the dog yard. He said it was too cold. I suggested that he put a robe on and not go out in his underwear. They peed and pooped on the porch. I did NOT clean that up!
After I rested for another hour, I finally figured out how to achieve a standing position and shuffle out of my bedroom. If I walk in a straight line, I can make it from one room to the other. No sideways shifting or making a step too big or the knee will scream. The Man begrudgingly arose and then I had to tell him how to feed the crew. He went out without the scoop to get the food and had to come back and even though I told him to get the packet of Toni's food, he had to make yet another trip. While he fiddled around with that, I fed Kevin.
The Man was exhausted and had to nap. I wonder what he would do if I wasn't here?
Anyway, I think I will be fine to travel as long as I am very careful getting up and down and walk in a straight line! I walk the line for my pets!!
