Mice Dilemma
Still haven't heard from my hand x-ray. Today is Tuesday. On Saturday The Man arose from his slumber earlier than usual to show me his swollen jaw. At first, I thought maybe I hit him in my sleep. He assured me that I did not. He wondered what he should do. I sent him to Urgent Care. Sinus infection. They prescribed penicillin and prednisone.
He felt pretty crappy Saturday, but he was a busy guy Sunday. Also, on Monday and today. He has been zipping around doing all manner of little chores he had neglected for a very long time. As the sun goes down today, he is out there tinkering with his mower. He replaced a bad tire and now I have no idea what he is doing to it.
It is the prednisone. He can't seem to sit still. I am not going to tell him, and I know he does not read my blog. He has been confused with the new blog and can't seem to find it. I wonder if I could slip him prednisone every time he gets lazy. That would be so great!!
The repair man came today and discovered the problem. Mice chewed the wires. Hmm. I seem to recall suggesting to the The Man that he take the back off and reveal the problem. This suggestion was met with a stony stare and him telling me it was under warranty and he was not an appliance repairman. He is not a mechanic either, but that has not stopped him from tinkering with the mower and the golf cart.
Along with more prednisone, I can use this. Since the fridge cannot come inside to a mouse free zone, I will be lobbying for the addition of a closet/laundry room. I will be calling this Phase 1 of the addition to our living quarters. I have tried all my tactics and failed to get The Man to agree; but now there is a mouse problem on the porch! It must be fixed!!
A mere 10' X 6' addition will solve the problem. The fridge and the stacked washer/dryer will be at one end, and the rest will be our closet. I have it all in my mind. This will free up space in two areas inside. My bedroom will be wider, and I can position the bed so that we can walk around three sides of it. Also, there will be a void in the hall where the washer/dryer once resided. Along with the current closet next to the area where the W/D was, I will have a little over 5' to play with. A base cabinet with a nice piece of raw edge wood for the top and open shelves above it will provide so much storage for my overstuffed kitchen. The shelves will allow an airy feel and make the hall seem wider.
Who knew that mice would be an answer to my dilemma? Hey, you have to take advantage of what you have!
