Cats R Us

Another beautiful day and I was anxious to get outside and do some planting. I was heading around the house to turn the water on and begin the endless watering and suddenly Lucy was right beside me meowing loudly. She is not usually vocal when she follows me. I looked down and saw her big belly was gone! I stopped and looked around, wondering where she had put her babies.

The back side of the house does not get a lot of sun. She chose wisely. She was under the pressure washer that was behind a roll of fencing. I had not raked all the leaves from last fall out and could barely make out an orange baby and then a black baby and another baby that looked like Marco, Polo's (now Kevin) lost brother. No, I did not touch them, wanting to gain her trust so that she will let me touch them.

I still have some replacement formula from my adventure with the kittens I could not save. I stirred the powder in the warm water and tore some bread in to give it substance. I fed it to Kevin's cat mama while she was still nursing her kittens and she loved it. I made two bowls, one for Marble and one for Lucy. Marble looked at me like offering her milk and bread was a bit of an insult. I almost expected her to ask "Where's the meat" in her gravelly voice. Lucy was in the kitten nest and hissed at me. I carefully put the bowl down and she was ravenous.

I only saw 3 babies, but here is the weird part. Her three kittens match Marble's 3 kittens. I am pretty sure that Garfield is the culprit. The other male cats are solid black and solid white. I will concede that the black cat could have gotten in on the action, but the white guy is not liable for the kittens. I don't think Kevin helped, but I am certain he would have given the opportunity.

We now have 10 cats that live here and a few that show up occasionally. Bursting at the seams with cats. Kevin is such a sweet natured boy. He would probably welcome another cat in the house, but Eddie has advised me that he does not want another cat or dog. Eddie would be quite happy to be an only child. Toni is indifferent, but Bo loves his cat. Bo thinks we got a cat for the sole purpose of entertaining him.

I ran out of white paint and The Man volunteered to fetch more and found some for $8.50 a gallon. In the home stretch now, we have just a few more pieces of wall board to go up later when it is a bit cooler and I can finish hanging the peg board. I am hoping to put the first coat of paint on tonight and the second in the morning. Then I can start putting it all together. The fun part.
