We Must Be On Time!

The big day is here. I will be seeing the hand surgeon today. As great as that is, it is only a consultation.

The internet keeps playing with my emotions and when I finally get a chance to read posts or write one, it will go in and out and I lose part and keep part and then just close my laptop in frustration.

We went to Chattanooga last Friday to meet up with some favorite people. We went to a restaurant and had brunch. Oh, my goodness, this place, Milk and Honey, was so good! The Man ordered his favorite sausage and biscuits. No adventure with him! I had chicken and waffles and could not eat it all. There is a bakery in house, and we left with a box of goodies and my leftovers. Pistachio White Chocolate scones and some cruffins. The pasties melted in my mouth. I toyed with thoughts of hiding them from The Man and telling him he had eaten his share. That would be mean, though. A nice fantasy.

It was in the downtown part of Chattanooga and parking was an issue, but the drive over was not as far as I had expected it to be. We arrived an hour early after The Man rushed me out the door proclaiming that if I didn't hurry, we would be late.

There is progress in the She Shed. The insulation is done and about 3/4 of the walls. One end is completely done, painted and the peg board is filling up. Now I have all the crap from the other end shoved over in the done area. I have been told that it will not all fit back in. It will, I promise. I can't wait to get all the walls done and I can be left alone to organize.

The Man continues to not listen to my helpful advice. If I measure something, he will grab the tape measure and do it again. This results in him deciding that his measurements are correct and mine are wrong and there has been a lot of "shaving off an inch or two". This annoys me. We can agree that my measurements reflect the correct size, but he still "checks" them.

My gardens are all up and green. I have finally reached that place in the life of a garden where I can "shop" my own garden to fill in blank spaces. The lilies are putting on a big show in the yard. They are just getting ready to bloom in the upper yard. I am quite happy that I eliminated grass up there. Just need to put down fresh mulch. The little maple sapling that was about 2' tall is now towering at about 15'.

The Man, in his effort to "help" me bought a new piece of equipment that vacuums up the fallen leaves and makes mulch out of them. He is so proud of himself and probably thinks he will not be hauling in truckloads of mulch for me. I like a nice thick mulch. It remains to be seen if the crushed leaves will do the trick.

My peace is over; The Man is up and calculating what time we should leave here. It is about an hour and a half away depending on traffic. I need to be there at 1:30 and he is chomping at the bits to leave "soon". The time now is 10:00. Lord, help me, I am not up to waiting for over an hour in the parking lot.

  1. My easter lilies and daylilies are about to start blooming. The iris all but done. I have found that pine needles make the best mulch for choking out weeds. Hope your consultation with the hand surgeon goes how you want.

    1. Pine straw will do a great job. I rake what I can and use it, but it is short needles and I don't have enough on my property. It is expensive. More than mulch. And I am cheap. Consultation went fine and soon I will be free of the jellyfish atop my hand. He said it would continue to grow and he wants to get it before it involves my wrist. I fear he may be too late.

  2. I wish you could get the picture issues with Blogger figured out, so we could see your She Shed! And the doggies and Kevin and Dora.

    1. I know I should call my son and get advice, but he is writing code and troubleshooting 4 jobs right now and I feel guilty when I have to take his time away from his family. You would simply fall in love with my Kevin. Martha, the boy cat was affectionate with us, but he was still somewhat aloof, as cats will be. Kevin is just sweetest little fella. He seems to want to be with us all the time. He likes to play fight with Bo; they stand on their hind legs and box. When he is tired, he likes to nap next to Eddie. He and Toni have an understanding. She tolerates his presence and allows him to lick her food bowl after she has finished eating. Dora is in the midst of another growth spurt. When her shell is wet you can clearly see the new parts and the parts ready to scale off.

  3. When I had things to mulch I liked to put down a layer of leaves and add a thin layer of 'real' mulch on top of it.

    1. I do that, too. I think the crushed leaves will work a lot better and be easier to cover.
