Gifts From The Man

I am so excited about my early Mother's Day gift from The Man. I sometimes complain that The Man never pays attention to me. Over the years this has led to some pretty unique gifts. I really did not think he could top the Mother's Day gift he gave me when the children were young, but old enough to question his idea of a gift. That was the year he gave me 50 lbs. of cow manure.

I his defense, I did say that I wanted to fertilize the gardens and grass. He says I asked for it, but I just mentioned it in passing. He gave me clothespins and trash cans one year for Christmas. That was early in our marriage when we couldn't afford to pay attention, and I did ask for those particular items. You should also know that was not the only gifts I got and my gifts to him were equally useful.

I have a new toilet seat! The toilet seat that was in use before was hard to clean. I could clean it and know that it was clean, but it never looked clean. I told The Man that I was going to order one. I was recovering from my hand surgery and gave it no more thought.

Once again, he had heard me. It is always a surprise when he listens to me. Sometimes I am not even talking to him. I am quite comfortable sharing my thoughts with whichever animal happens to be close by. Eddie is my best listener. He will pay close attention, and his face will change expressions while I regale him with mundane things. Bo can't sit still long enough to have a good conversation, and Toni Louise will just walk away while I am talking. Kevin has turned into another good listener.

But, let me tell you about my shiny new toilet seat. It is so clean! the finish has no wear on it, and it is designed to be really easy to clean. You just pull up the tabs in the back and move the entire seat off to clean the toilet! I am really happy about that. And get this .... the lid closes automatically!

I am so impressed with my new gadget and not at all insulted by the gift. I am a simple girl who appreciates the finer things in life! And this toilet seat will make my life a little easier and brings a smile to me face every time the lid slowly closes on its own.
