I Smell a Conspiracy!

I am sleeping too much! First, I can't seem to get to sleep, then I find myself longing to crawl back into bed all day long. This is not right.

I woke this morning at 6:02, thanks to our alarm system, Toni Louise, barking her fool head off and jumping around excitedly. Nothing new here, she wakes every morning in the 6:00 range. She wears a diaper at night, so that can't be her issue. She wants to be fed. I get up and let all the dogs out and greet Kevin, the cat at the door. He stays out at night with Lucy and her kittens. By morning he is so happy to see me. He butts my head and I butt his. Then after greeting each one of the dogs, he jumps into the recliner belonging to The Man and sleeps.

I decided to try withholding feeding time until 7:00 in an attempt to change the time on Toni's internal clock. She will give me the stink eye and wander back to the bathroom where she arranges herself over the air vent. Is she going through menopause and having hot flashes? I have finally figured out how to lift lazy Eddie into my arms without his weight on my still tender hand. Eddie is always up for a good sleep.

BoJangles can hop up into our bed with ease and does so, but he is not happy about me withholding his food for an hour. He shows his displeasure by getting into my face and trying to lick me. A good thump to his snout ends that and he curls his little body into my spine and sleeps. Eddie is sprawled next to my belly. If Kevin decides to join us, he sits politely at the foot of the bed and watches the door. I swear that Bo can tell time, because he will nudge me awake within a 5-minute range around 7:00 am.

I drag myself up and to the kitchen to mix Toni's food, always checking the can to make sure it is not chili beans! I put her bowl in the bathroom and close the door. Kevin takes his position on the floor and sticks his long legs under the door in an attempt to reach her. I think Bo put him up to that.

Then I make the healthy weight food in the dishes for the boy dogs, as they are fat. Bo attacks his food with enthusiasm until he decides to give Eddie's bowl a try. Both bowls contain exactly the same thing. Eddie will growl a warning, then bark at his brother dog. Kevin watches and learns before he finally meanders to his own bowl of food.

Kevin insists on smelling the container with his kibble to make sure I am not poisoning him. He will rub against my hand when he is ready for me to pour his proper amount into his bowl. Then I make coffee to start my day. As the coffee drips into my cup, I check on Toni's progress, and she is usually just standing on the other side of the door, waiting patiently to be freed. She makes a trip to her yard and then comes back as I am still drinking the coffee.

I could not wake up today. I felt like I would just collapse if I didn't go back to bed. So, I did just that. I slept until 10:30. It was not a restful sleep. I dreamed and can't remember what I dreamed. I usually can, but not today. I still got up, made the bed and dressed for the day. I even put make-up on!

We left on a water mission. Down to our last 3-gallon water bottle, it was not possible to put it off any longer. Walmart is the closest place to fill bottles with filtered water. Actually, the only place around these parts. Problem is that the Walmart in our doctor town frequently has their equipment down. In no hurry to repair it (like McDonald's ice cream machine). We have two other Walmart store close by and then have to go to one of them.

I chose the Murphy super-store for entirely selfish reasons. The garden department is bigger and has the best clearance section. I thought that might brighten my day. I scored a Mexican lavender tree! Half price! It did perk me up. I picked up a few items we didn't necessarily need and was ready to go home. We made one more stop at a butcher shop. That was quick, too. I was exhausted and could hardly stay awake on the ride home.

As soon as I repackaged our meat selections into meal portions and got them to the freezer, I got back in bed and napped for two hours. It is barely 8pm and I am just waiting to go back to bed! Both eyes were tearing all day and now my nose is drippy. I think I am getting a cold.

A conspiracy is afoot! No traveling for me if I am sick! Crap. crap, crap.
