Sciatica?
I am at loose ends today. Nothing urgently trying escape from my mind. My sciatic nerve is trying to keep me down and almost succeeding. It had been making my life miserable for the past week. I try to recall something I may have done to aggravate it and the only thing I can come up with is bending down to pick up some laundry I dropped. Can't even blame it on my husband!
So here I am propped with pillows to facilitate sitting with good posture. Good thing I have lots of pillows on the loveseats. Speaking of pillows, why do men hate pillows so much? I have yet to meet a man who can appreciate a multitude of pillows on beds and other furniture. They all whine, "Why are there so many pillows?" Until they have the need for a pillow at their back or to prop an aching limb on.
I didn't make dinner last night as I was laying as flat as I could to make the searing pain bearable. I think maybe I may have pulled a muscle, too. And I did dig a trench last week. Nothing out of character for me. I usually have some sort of garden tool in my hand this time of year and the trench was not deep. If I don't have gardening paraphernalia close by, I have a paint brush in my hand.
My pile of painted rocks is growing. Seems to be getting easier to depict a character on them. I have frogs and grasshoppers, caterpillars and bumblebees. And of course, turtles. I am lining the garden beds with them. I did a cat in honor of Martha, the boy cat and he is currently keeping watch over the hollyhock garden bed. My newest favorite is black ants on a white rock. I did some small goldfish to put in the water fountain.
Rumor has it that we are getting new phones next week. I will be sure to have them show me what I might be doing wrong when downloading pictures. I really think it is this laptop. This is an HP, while my old one is a Dell
There are yoga postures and stretches that are good for sciatic and also preventing it. Also a good chiropractor can ease it by stretching and pushing on that area to relieve the pinch. I know a lot of people think chiropractors are quacks (I'm sure there are some just like there are quack MDs) and dangerous but my experience has only been good and helpful.
ReplyDeleteI will be back in physical therapy soon and doing lots of stretches. Being an old nurse who checked in a patient with a broken neck after he visited the chiropractor, I admit I am more cautious than most!
