Watching It Snow

I sit here with the cold dregs of my coffee watching as the snow drifts down onto the snow covering the ground. Is this the new storm? Or is this the storm we were told to watch out for two weeks ago? At any rate this is sticking around for a while. It is 20 degrees with a feel like temp of 9. I went out on the porch to open the door and let the dogs out, then scooped their food out of the big container and came back in.

The plastic we put up, that is quite ugly, by the way, seems to be doing a good job. I have two small green house structures that are housing plants that are still green and I put all the ferns and big hanging plants on the table and put a plastic sheet over them. The spider plant is looking sad, but I saw some new green shoots at the base of the plant and the ferns are still green. I need a for-real green house! I would prefer one that is half under ground level to take advantage of the insulating soil. It doesn't need to be all that big and it could double as a root cellar. I have a fertile mind, you know.

My visit with the electrophysiologist was uneventful. He changed the time of day that I take my Atenolol to see if the tachycardia I have been experiencing at night might correct itself. If after two weeks I have no change or the tachycardia will just change to daytime visits, he will change the drug to one with a time release form. One day into this experiment and I can say we should have simply skipped this step and changed to the Metoprolol. I will play the experiment out, being a good patient following orders. I do not know this doctor well enough to do my usual thing of telling him what to do. I will wait until the second visit for that.

The visit to the dentist was sad. He unscrewed the rod that held the crown and put a lid on the devise in my jaw. Took impressions and ordered another crown to the tune of $1500, giving me a $800 discount. I am so sorry I swallowed the crown! I am so sorry I did not induce vomiting. I should have grabbed that crown before I swallowed! The dentist told me about a patient, an old man who arrived with his crown in a quart mason jar full of bleach. Seems he waited for his crown to travel out of his body. Yeah, I am not doing that either!

The RV is loaded and my favorite clothes are on board. I could go out and get an outfit, but I opted for paint-stained sweats instead. I don't feel all that great, but that wouldn't matter much if I were riding in the RV. So, here I sit, watching it snow.

  1. $1500 after the $800 discount?! I have a missing tooth that is not visible and it can just stay missing. Metoprolol didn't even put a dent in my afib. I'm on Sotolol.

    1. I get the impression that I am only on step 1 of this journey and not looking forward to moving forward!

  2. Well, at least you have a good story to tell about swallowing an "implant." I have taken metoprolol for years. It has to be the brand name which is not covered by my insurance! Toprol XL, the extended-release version. It works for me. The generic did not! I felt like I was moving underwater. The least effort tired me out. And my hands and feet swelled up. Maybe it worked too well, or maybe it wasn't extended-release.
